To Do or Not to Do

“Do I or don’t I? Do I or don’t I?”

She paced back and forth in front of the full-length mirror in her bedroom, brows furrowed as she considered her options. If she did it, there would be a personal sense of satisfaction, a warming of her heart. If she didn’t, she gave herself more options for the day, but she wasn’t sure anything else would be nearly as fulfilling.

“Do I or don’t I? Do I or don’t I?”

Would it really be worth it to do it, though? It never felt like it made a difference, at least not in the long run. Her goal never seemed to get achieved. It was amazingly frustrating.

“Do I or don’t I? Do I or don’t I?”

Would it be worth it to not do it? She wasn’t sure if her inaction would even be noticed. And if she didn’t do it, what else would she do? Did she really have any other options for the day?

“Do I or don’t I? Do I or don’t I?”

She wandered over to the window and looked out. It was a gorgeous day, not a cloud in the sky and a comfortable temperature with a light, refreshing breeze. Birds were singing, and the sound of laughing children could be heard coming from down the street. She couldn’t stay inside; there was nothing to do in here.

She sighed, knowing the time had come to finally make her decision and act on it. She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and nodded. She knew what she was going to do today. With that decided, she calmly walked out of her room and headed outside.

A few moments later, she reached her destination. She smiled as she found what she expected; it would have been more surprising to see something different. Confident she had made the right decision, she stepped forward, knowing today was going to be a great day.
